Dundas children’s choir

Winter/Spring Term starts Monday, February 3, 2025 – Register here

Dundas Children’s Choir meets weekly for one hour, under the direction of Dr. Lara Housez. Together, we will sing music that is beautiful, fun and challenging. Along the way, we develop our musicianship and choral skills. You will learn good vocal technique, develop sight-singing skills, improve your pitch, learn how to follow a conductor, and learn how to harmonize with others.

We welcome children of all levels of experience, from beginner to diva! Our teaching method uses a mix of learning by ear and reading music from the page, to develop both well-rounded technical skills and an intuitive feel for the music we sing.

Piano for young children (ages 4+)

Is your child curious about the family piano?  Children as young as 4 can learn about notes, rhythms and how to make the piano sing!

This weekly, one-on-one session allows your child to learn and progress at their own pace. 

For this program, your child will need to have regular access to a piano or a keyboard. (If you do not have access to an instrument, contact us for information on renting/purchasing an acoustic or a digital piano.)

Parents are encouraged to join these sessions and to participate in home practice. This sends a positive message to your child that music is a shared experience that is part of family life.     

COMPOSITION and SONGWRITING:

Develop your musical ideas with personalized one-on-one lessons in songwriting and composition. Perfect for beginners with some music experience, these sessions will guide you through melody, harmony, and form to help you create original pieces
